CHICAGO PEOPLE! Put your hands in the air! Wave 'em like you just don't care!
Then go see Lucinda's Bed at Chicago Dramatists or the Hypocrites' production of Frankenstein at the MCA. They both have flaws but they're both really intriguing and fun.
We'll discuss in comments, perhaps?

Reviewing Frankenstein on Friday...very excited. And I should see Lucinda, since I do know Mia...
Oooh, I can't wait to hear your opinion on Frankenstein. Don't want to bias you yet as to what I thought.
And yes, see Lucinda's Bed. It sounds kind of Sarah Ruhl-y from descriptions, but it gets really dark.
Is "Sarah Ruhl-y" an insult now? When did she go from it girl to bete noir? I've enjoyed what little of her work I've seen, but the adulation and vitriol she tends to get confuses me. (This isn't directed at you, I'm just confused because I see it a lot.)
I don't know when the zeitgeist shifted. I guess when you win a Genius Grant, people get bitter.
I mean, I really liked EURYDICE and thought PASSION PLAY had its moments. But her style can come off as twee or cutesy.
I havge an opinion!
